Kalaram Temple

Location

Sardar Odhekar of Peshwa built this simple, large temple in 1782.The main deities Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshmana are pretty black in colour and festooned with knick-knacks. The gold plated copper dome and other sculptures of this magnificient shrine displays brilliant structural design. Built with black stones, the70 feet high temple happens to be the busiest temples in the locality.

This grand edifice plunks in the midst of a walled corral of 96 columns and accessible through a vaulted porch. There are great procession and festivities. On the festive occasions like Ramnavami, Dushera and Chaitra Padwa and the temple looks gorgeous with grand processions and marvelous decorations. The temple premises also hold small shrines dedicated to Lord Hanuman, Lord Vithala and Lord Ganesha.
