Buraburi Than, Mothertola

Buraburi Than, a significant religious site is situated on the riverbank of Brahmaputra near Jaleswar. It represents national integrity since people from different religions take part in the religious function as it is learnt. It is believed that an elderly man and an elderly woman (Bura Buri) used to offer ‘payas’ (milk made rice) as ‘prasad’ to the cow boys, locally called ‘rakhals’. However, according to the local people, the Bura Buri was converted to a Giant Stone and since then it was revered by the local habitats.
