Kanha National Park

Location

Kanha National Park, located in Madhya Pradesh, is one of the best known tiger reserves in India. Snugly situated between Banjar and Halon valley, Kanha was declared a national park in 1955 and is an important Project Tiger Reserve. The Park is the result of earnest conservation efforts by the Indian government with remarkable cooperation from the local communities of the region.

Kanha national park covers a core area of 945 square km and its landscape includes grassy meadows, lush forests, streams and hills. The topography here is perfectly suited for a wide variety of flora and fauna that have taken root and flourished here. The serene settings at Kanha were the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s famous work, the Jungle Book.
