Jampore Beach

Location

The picturesque shores of the Jampore beach in Moti Daman are situated at the southernmost point of the district. Towards south, at Moti Daman side Jampore Beach leads on to the border of Gujarat. It is a pleasant spot, where one communes with nature in sublime solitude. This beach is most suited to swimming as it is danger-free. During low-tide, one can walk on the soft wet sand right into the sea. Don't miss a picnic with your family in the shade of Casurina plantation on the sea-shore.

Viper Island

The Britishers used to harbour convicts here. The first jail was constructed here which was abandoned after the construction of Cellular Jail. It has a gallows atop a hillock, where condemned prisoners were hanged. Sher Ali, who killed Lord Mayo, the Viceroy of India in 1872, was also hanged here.

The island derives its name from the vessel ‘Viper’ in which Lt. Archibald Blair came to the islands in 1768 with the purpose of establishing a Penal Settlement. The vessel, it is believed, met with an accident and its wreckage was abandoned near the island.

Wandoor

This place is famous for the 280 sq. km Mahatma Gandhi National Marine Park, which boasts of 15 islands with tropical forests, mangrove creeks and plenty of coral reefs(around 150 species of corals).
Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Island are excellent excursions from here by boat. Wandoor is 29 kms from Port Blair in the southwest direction. Wandoor can be reached by bus from Port Blair in 1:30 hours. Wandoor also has many sandy beaches, which are noted for snorkeling, and some fine corals.

Smith Island

Smith Island, one of the twin islands in Andaman, is connected to Ross Islands by an imposing sand bar. The Island is a perfect location for Island Camping and is a best suit to enjoy the village life in seclusion. The Island is attracted due to its clean and unspoiled seashore and the marvelous sight seeing facilities. The lusting green coconut palms grow meticulously in rows on the sea shore adds the beauty of this Island.

Ross Island

Ross and Smith Islands are known as twin islands that are connected by sand bar. This place is 30 min away from Kalipur Water Sports Center. It offers a beautiful village life feel. This place will be well suited to the peoples of urban areas. They can find pollution free places with excellent sceneries.

It is accessible from Phoenix Bay Jetty through a boat ride, is situated at the entry region of Port Blair harbor. Ross Islands, once the administrative head quarters of British Colonial Rulers, still bears the ruins of a Church and cemetery. It was during the British rule that the island was developed to a perfect township. Many reminiscent of old British regime are still alive in this stunning Island.

Rangat

One can enjoy the quiet village life and solitude of virgin nature here. You can also breathe unpolluted air, a rare commodity for the city dweller. Cutbert Bay beach (20 kms. away from Rangat bazar/jetty) is a turtle nesting ground. One can view the nesting of turtles during December – February season. Hawksbill Nest, guest house of the Directorate of Tourism, is near to the Cutbert bay beach and Turtle sanctuary. Panchavati waterfall and Amkunj beach are on the way to Cutbert bay. One can go to Mayabunder and Diglipur from here.
