Skandanathar temple located at Tiruerakaram in Tanjore district is one of the famous temples of Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu. The temple is administered by the trust administering the famous Swami Malai temple. The temple enshrines Lord Muruga, the son of Lord Shiva, in his aesthetic form.
Skandashashti is an important day in this temple. During this day thousands of Muruga devotees throng to this temple. There are shrines for Lord Shiva, Lord Ganapati and serpant gods in this temple. The temple opens everyday in the morning and evening for rituals. The nearby teetham is assumed to be sacred.
