Location
Sarabhumurti Temple (Kampahareswarar) is located at Tribhuvanam near to Kumbakonam. The Kampahareswarar temple has Lord Shiva as prime deity. The Lord of this temple is known as Sarabhumurti, a rare idol combining the features of bird and man. The temple is built by the Chola King Tribhuvana Chakravarti. This temple is rated as the true specimen and masterpiece of Chola style of architecture.
The front Mantapam is in the form of a mammoth chariot. The temple is a replica of the temple in Darasuram. There are sculptured panels displaying the scenes from epic Ramayana. The images of musicians and dancers are portrayed in the different parts of the temple.
