Location
Prakasam Barrage with a total length of 1223.5 meter completed in year 1957 and is constructed across the Krishna river. It is in the outer edge of Vijayawada in Krishna district.
This barrage is named in honor of Sri Tanguturi Prakasam, the first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This Road Bridge and modern regulator extends across the Krishna river and is considered as the one of the oldest irrigation projects of south India. This project brought Krishna delta into the most useful fertile valley. This is a well-deserved picnic spot as the panoramic view of the lake created by this barrage is amazing.
