Harila Joria

Harila Jori, also known as Harihar Jori, is a famous tourist attraction renowned for its Shiva Temple. Situated at a distance of around 8 km and 5 km from Baidyanath Temple and Tower Chowk respectively, the site is located on the northern side of Deoghar.

The Shiva Temple was built by Achintan Das and the site also has a huge tank, which is popularly known as Shool Harini Tank. It is also believed that the site also served as a place where both Shiva and Vishnu met each other.

Further, it is also believed that during the ancient period, the surroundings of this area were filled with the forests of haritaki, also known as myrobalan trees. Legend states that at this site Ravana gave the lingam to Lord Vishnu, who was disguised as a Brahmin. A stream flowing at the site is popularly known as Ravana Jori after the visit of Ravana.
