Dhenupureeswarar Temple

Dhenupureeswarar Temple or Sri Thenupureeswarar temple is located at South East of Kumbakonam at a calm village known as Pateeswaram. The temple is believed to be constructed during 16th Century by Govinda Dikshithar, a Minister of Nayak King Acchathappa.

The prime deity is Sri Thenupureeswarar and the idol in this temple is marvelously adorned with religious jewels. The temple structure is a real specimen of centuries old temple architectural beauty. There are many statues, paintings, structures and idols depicting various religious stories and events. The temple is routinely visited by the pilgrims from all over South India.
