Chilapata

Location

Chilapata is a dense forest on the way to Cooch Behar and is located around 20 km from the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary. While visiting this forest, tourists can find the ruins of thousand year old fort built by Nal King. This fort is situated deep inside the forest and has historical and archaeological importance. The fort was built in the 5th century, during the Gupta Empire and the ruins depict the heritage of the Golden Age of India.

Sunderbans Tiger Reserve

Location

The Sunderbans Tiger Reserve is considered to be one of the top ten wildlife destinations in India. Literally meaning "beautiful jungle" in Bengali, the Sunderbans ecosystem is the world’s largest delta and mangrove swamp.

The Tiger Reserve lies at the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Brahmaputra and Meghna and spreads across 2,585 sq. km. It is the largest estuarine sanctuary in the world, and home to some of India’s most interesting wildlife.

Chandra Prabha Wildlife Sanctuary

Location

Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 70 kilometers Southeast of the cultural city of Varanasi. It can be plainly established that Chandraprabha is one of the less known and neglected wildlife sanctuary of India. Nevertheless is the best place around Varanasi to break the monotony. The place is a strict no-no for the "Karma-chameleons" but if all those talks about 'Karma' and 'Nimit Matra' have started taking toll on your otherwise nascent brain, then Chandraprabha is a place to be.

Location

The crocodile sanctuary in the Kukrail Reserve Forest at the suburbs of the city is a pictorial holiday spot provided the visitors keep themselves away from the crawling lots. What makes this sanctuary so spectacular is that it stands in the midst of sprawling woods that provide its green shade all around.

Lucknow Zoo

Location

Four km from the Charbagh station is the Lucknow Zoo or the Prince of Wales Zoological Gardens. The zoo comes under the Banarasi Bagh area. This Zoo, constructed in 1921, also has a museum, an aquarium and a toy train. The plane Rajhans used by Pt. Jawarharlal Nehru is also kept in the zoo.
