Vaman Temple

Location

Dedicated to Lord Vaman - the dwarf lord, this lovely temple belongs to the eastern group of temples. Situated north of the Khajuraho village Vaman temple presents a pretty sigh of a lush greenery of barley fields as its background.

The temple architecture is similar to that of the largest temples of Khajuraho that consists of a sanctum, a single spire 'shikhara', an atrium, a 'maha-mandapa' with tangential transepts and a porch. Another worth mentioning characteristic of this temple is that the top or third row of the 'jangha' (wall) shows framed niches containing diamonds in the place of sculptures.
