Location
Chilkur is a picturesque village on the banks of Osmansagar, around 25 kilometers away from Hyderabad. Lord Balaji Venkateswara is the deity of the temple. Hundreds of thousands of devotees worship here every year. It is a serene place for retreat and meditation.
The temple was built around five hundred years ago. This temple is considered to be an alternative to the Tirumala temple. Lord Balaji Venkateswara showers his blessings to the devotees along with Rajya Lakshmi (fondly called ammavaru).
