Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara

Location

The sixth Sikh guru travelled through Kashmir, stopping to preach occasionally. A Gurudwara has been built at the exact site of each of these halts. The most important one among these is Chhatti Padshahi Gurudwara, situated near the Kathi Darwaza, in Rainawari, Srinagar, which is held in great reverence by devotees of all faiths.

Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara is placed very close to the Kathi Darwaza, the main entrance of Hari Parbat Fort at Rainawari in Srinagar. This is the most important Gurudwara built by the sixth guru of Sikhs.

The Gurudwaras are constructed on the places where he halted during his occasional travels through Kashmir to promote Sikh culture, ideas and beliefs. It is assumed that the Guru was disclosing the sermons staying at these places. Sikh community considers this place as very sacred and they often visit here to offer prayers.
