Location
Bangalpukhari is one of the chief attractions of Majuli, which is located on the southern side of Jorhat city, near Na-ali. The historic tank was built in 1739, which is associated with a historic event of the murder of Badan Barphukan, an Ahom Governor, by Rupsingh Bangal.
Bangal was rewarded with a large sum of money, which was utilised in the construction of the tank. The historic tank became famous as Bangalpukhari. Natives do not utilise water from this tank, as it was constructed from the money received for killing a man.
