Rewa Society

Location

Established by Richard and Sally Holkar, belonging to the ex-ruler family, Rewa Society has helped so much for the growth and development of the handloom industry. Rewa Society weaving center is a thriving attempt to continue the 250 year tradition of weaving the celebrated Maheshwari sarees.

Sound and Light Show

Location

The Light and Sound show on the Western Group of temples complex the reminds the life and times of the great Chandela Kings and mark out the story of the exclusive temples from the 10th Century to the present day. The 50-minute fascinating show is held in every evening and it runs in Hindi and in English.

Amitabh Bachchan, biggest of Bollywood stars, narrates the story of the magnificient temples and his majestic voice attributes a special effect to the show. The tourism department organizes the show, which is not only entertaining but also very informative.

Shilpgram

Location

A genuine attempt to promote the centuries old Indian culture, Shilpgram, allures the tourists with its heart throbbing performances of folk arts. Located at the heart of Khajuraho, this brilliant venture is a government run cultural center started in the year 1998.

Spread over a vast area of ten acres, Shilpgram’s nights are colourful with the stunning performances of classical and folk dancers. People who are interested in watching the performances should come to the open-air stadium at 7 in the evening.

Chowk

Location

In the heart of the city, the Chowk is lined with old mosques, havelis, reminders of a bygone era. The shops in its narrow alleys are treasure troves of traditional Bhopali crafts : silver jewellery, exquisitely fashioned beadwork, embroidered and sequined velvet fashioned purses and cushions.

Mai Ki Bagiya

Location

A grove of trees in dense forests situated at a distance of one km from Narmadakund is named “Mai ki Bagiya” in honour of the goddess Narmada. In this natural garden there are Mango, Banana and other fruit trees along with Gulbakavli, roses and other flower plants.

Mai ki Bagiya is one of the prettiest locations in Amarkantak. Literally Bagiya means orchards and Mai ki Bagiya is a lovely stretch of trees, which is believed to be the playground of River Narmada. Legend has it that mother Narmada used to pluck flowers from this garden

Bhattapara

Location

Bhattapara is a locality in Jiaganj named after Bhattacharyas, who used to live there from the earlier time of Nawab Murshid Kuli Khan(Subedar of Bengal) of Murshidabad and the next generations of Bhatta have been living still now at Bhattapara. "Pathar Bari" temple of Goddess Durga is situated near the bank of the river Bhagirathi at Bhattapara is their ancient architecture.

Dolmanch

Dolmanch is one of the prominent tourist attractions, which is situated in the main market of the destination. Located on the first floor of Rasraj Sweet House, the site has a swing made up of stone. Apart from full moon day, tourists visiting the site on the occasion of Holi can witness huge idols of Radha and Krishna.

JRD TATA Sports Complex

Location

JRD Tata Sports Complex is the modern sports complex located in the middle of the city. This sports complex features an international football ground along with eight-lane mono synthetic track. The Tata Sports Complex is well equipped with modern facilities to organise sports such as volleyball, hockey, handball and table tennis.
