Sairung

Location

Sairung is a beautiful village lying on the banks of Tlawng River. Situated about 19 km west of Aizawl at 23°48'N 92°40'E, this village lures tourists, pouring from across the world to visit the hill station. Travellers can hire a car or taxi from the main town and drive through the National Highway No. 54 in order to reach this village.

Falkawn is a small village situated 18 km south of the main town of Aizawl. Depicting the lifestyle and culture of a typical Mizo village, this site is often frequented by tourists. To reach the village, travellers can either rent a car or hire a taxi.

Ruantlang

Location

Ruantlang is a small village located in the Champhai district of the north-eastern state of Mizoram. Situated 5 km away from the main town, this village has preserved the traditional Mizo way of life. Tourists visiting Aizawl can travel to this village by renting a car from the city, or simply hiring one of the local taxis.

Ranikor

Location

Ranikor is a place that is located close to Bangladesh and on the banks of River Jadukata. Ranikor is located near to the Bangladesh region on the banks of the Jadukata river. Opportunities for all sorts of water sports are available in the region around Ranikor. The Thum Falls is located near the village of Dilingim and is a 60 m high waterfall. At the bottom of the waterfall, there is a pond with fishes of different varieties.

Nengkong

Location

Nengkong is situated at a distance of 14 km at the northern side of Baghmara. There are three caves at this place including Tetengkol Balwakol, which is 533 km in length. It is the second longest cave of the Indian subcontinent. The Dobakkol Chibe Nala is another cave which is 2 km long and is located at Chibe Nala River. This cave is hidden by the huge rock and is around 1,978 m long. The last cave where tourists can visit is Bok Bak Dobhakol and is around a kilometre long.

Mawphlang

Location

Mawphlang, located 25 km from Shillong, is popular for being home to Meghalaya's most renowned forest grove. Known as the Sacred Forest, it is revered by the local Jaintias and offers a glimpse into the history of the Khasis and their religious beliefs.

The Sacred Forest is largely a grove of Castanopsis kurzii trees. Considered as nature’s own museum, the trees seen here share space with epiphytic growths of aroids, pipers, fern-allies and orchids.

Nongsawlia

Location

Nongsawlia, located at a distance of about 2 km from south of Sohra, is one of the most visited sites by tourists. The place is flocked by large number of tourists from all around the world, who come to see the great work by Welsh Missionaries. In 1942, the place was first visited by Welsh missionaries, who added quality to the life of people residing here.

Yairipok

Location

Yairipok, one of the major villages of Thoubal, was initially inhabited by the Meitei Brahmins and was later occupied by the Manipur Muslims. The megalithic structures built between 1579 and 1652 are popular. This monolith has carved structure of a tortoise, Kurma, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and God of Elephants. It is believed that wild elephants arrive here to worship their God on certain occasions.

Ningel

Location

Ningel is a small village in the Thoubal District which is famous for two monuments built in 1744 and 1814 each. These monuments have an 18 line inscription on a sandstone, giving details of the inauguration of the market place at Ningel.
