Polem beach is the southernmost beach of Goa. It is located at a distance of about 50 kms. from the city of Margao. Polem beach is a very secluded with large stretches of white sands. The beach has just a couple of shacks, but hardly any tourists. A small road from the National highway leads to the beach.

Majorda Beach

Majorda beach is a popular beach of Goa situated in the southern part of Bagmola. It is located at a distance of 4 km from Margao and 5 km from the Colva Beach. The beach is 18 km from the Dabolim Airport. Many of the other popular destinations of Goa like Arossim, Benaulim, Velsao, Varca, Ponda, Salcette and Bogmalo lie at short distances from the Majorda Beach.

Canaguinim beach is another south Goa beach that is situated to the south of the Betul beach. The beach has a low wall around it and also has some rocks and a river inlet at the end. It is a sandy and stony beach situated in the Quepem taluka. There are also a number of rooms for rent found here for accommodation.

The Vainguinim beach in Goa is a quiet beach located at about 7 kms south from the heart of the city of Panjim. The beach has an enormous stretch of seashore and is suitable for those looking for a peaceful place for some quiet moments.

Buddhist caves, Rivona

Buddhist caves, Rivona
The Rivona Caves also known as the Pandava caves are situated in the Village of Rivona in South Goa at about 5 km northeast of Ponda. They are considered to be dug in the 6th or 7th century by the Buddhist monks.
At the Buddhist caves at Rivona one can see a "Pitha", which is carved out of laterite and is believed to have served as the seat of the teacher. The caves are also considered one of the few examples of Buddhist influence visible in Goa today.

The main opening to the caves is next to a small stepped well or tank at the bottom of the rock. This is flanked by a 16th century bas-relief of Hanuman, the Hindu monkey God and leads to the cell on the upper level.

Betul Beach

Betul Beach
Betul beach is located to the south of the Mobor, just across the Sal river. It is located at a distance of 24 kms from Margao city. Betul beach is a small beach amongst the beaches of Goa and is situated along the southern end of the River Sal. It is a picturesque beach with silvery sand which is shaded by fruit trees and coconut palms.

Ancestral Goa Museum / Big Foot
The Ancestral Goa museum/ exhibition is situated in the small Village of Loutolim which is about 10 km from Margao and 25 km from Panaji. The musuem is also known as big foot. It is privately run by an artist called Maendra Jocelino Araujo Alvares. The open-air museum recreates Goan rural life as it was a hundred years ago.

At Ancestral Goa there are a number of places to visit such as an art gallery where one can see work done by local children and artists of State and National fame. There is a handicraft centre where one can get some locally made Goan artificats, Big Foot dance floor, Big Foot restaurant, a cross, a spring known as Boca da Vaca, a bird habitat, a spice yard, rubber plantations and lots more.

Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid, Sanguem
Jama Masjid is an impressive Muslim monument in Sanguem taluk, south Goa. It was built in the last century and was completely renovated in 1959. The mosque is remarkable for its harmonious proportions and elegant simplicity.

The mosque has four minarets whilst the entrance facade is flanked by two elegant towers surmounted by pillared kiosks. The dome-shaped kiosk rising at the centre of the four minarets adds to the artistic beauty of this monument. Festivals are celebrated here with due solemnity by the rejoicing devotees.
