Benuban Vihar

Location

Benuban Vihar, situated at a distance of 2 km north from Agartala is a small Buddhist shrine in the Kunjaban area. This shrine preserves a metal idol of Bodhisatva and Lord Buddha, which was originally created in Burma. However, the idol was later transferred to Benuban Vihar for installation into this shrine.

Samadhi of Mungipa

Location

Samadhi of Mungipa is located at Tosham in the district of Bhiwani. Sodha Mungipa laid himself in the samadhi as he believed that he killed the cow during meditation. Tourists can reach this site from the eastern side by climbing up to the Tosham hill. Moreover, tourists can see the domed structure where a large amount of food grains and oils are offered. Visitors can also explore the water pool in a cavern and a Shiva temple that lies in proximity.

Mandir and Samadhi of Baba Shami Dayal

Location

Mandir and Samadhi of Baba Shami Dayal is one of the oldest temples of Charkhi Dadri in the district of Bhiwani. The temple is situated on the banks of Shyamesar Tank and was constructed under the supervision of Bilhan. It is said that Bilhan saw a dream in which saint Shami Dayal wanted to build a temple, which would spread prosperity of his caste and area. Every year on the 8th day of Bhadrapad, a fair is organised which is attended by a number of Phogat Jats.

Shyamesar Tank

Location

Shyamesar Tank is surrounded with a number of temples and ghats. The tank was constructed in 1687 by Lala Sita Ram, who is believed to be the treasurer of Muhammad Shah, Emperor of Delhi. However, other legend states that he was the treasurer of Shah Jahan, the Mughal Emperor of India. At present, the government has arranged the provision of supplying canal water to the tank.
