Dolphin's Nose

Location

Dolphin's Nose, a mammoth rocky headland of about 174 meter high, is situated in the southern part of Visakhapatnam city. The rock resembles a dolphin’s nose is nicely placed at an altitude of 358 meter with its projection to the Bay of Bengal in Visakhapatnam. This is a verdant attraction for many visitors as it is nature’s gift in its rarest form.

A renowned powerful light house highly useful for the shippers and has a light beam that can be seen as far as 64 km out at sea is also placed nearby. One can have a panoramic view of the city from this place.

Yarada Beach

Location

A perfect beach to have a holiday out, Yarada beach, is located very close to the main city Vizag and offers wonderful scenery with the magnificent greenish around and soft golden sands. The beach is surrounded by picturesque hills on three sides with Bay of Bengal provides the exotic waves the fourth side.

The beach offers a calm and secluded atmosphere those looking for solitude and mental peace. The beach maintains its cleanliness and majesty, attracting lots of tourists.

Rushikonda Beach

Location

The lovely Rushikonda beach in Vishakhpatnam with golden sands and vast stretch of water is the best beach in Vizag. Rushikonda Beach, an ideal location to engage in water sports, is spectacular with its golden sand and the tidy waves of Bay of Bengal. It attracts a huge crowd of tourists day by day and many of them enjoy swimming, water skiing and wind surfing.

Andhra Pradesh Tourism has built up beach cottages with restaurant and bar facilities. The tourist complex here is well maintained with a lodge, individual cottages, a restaurant and other amenities.

Ramakrishna Beach

Location

Ramakrishna Beach, also called as "R.K Beach" is the most popular among locals and tourist who flock here in large hordes during the weekends and during holidays. It is advisable not to swim here, though one can enjoy a few moments in the water.

Located at the east coast with a largest stretch of seafront, Ramakrishna beach is a favourite and nice spot to spend the time relaxing on the softy sand. The twin beaches - Ramakrishna Beach and Lawson's Bay present the tourists will mind-blowing scenic view of the nature, especially the reddish setting sun. The submarine museum, Rishikonda Beach, the Kali Temple, VUDA Park, statues of prominent personalities, Matsyadarshini, road side restaurants and parks - all attracts visitors to this beach.

Lawson's Bay Beach

Location

Lawson's Bay beach, also called as Pedawaltair beach, a calm serene and secluded cute beach with lusting greenery and golden sands is located close to Ramakrishna beach in the way to Kailasagiri Mount from Visakhapatnam.

The majestic sea with shallow crystal clear water and calm waves here is ideal for swimming, sun bathing and surfing. The beach attracts tourists due to its picturesque and stunning scenic beauty. Many tourists use the wheatish sands as a resting place and for sun bathing in day time.

Kondakarla Ava Beach

Location

Kondakarla Ava beach in Kondakarla village is located in Achyutapuram mandal, a short distance from Vizag. The beach is scenic and beautiful. Those who look for calm away from the stress and strains of the busy city life can spend their holidays here.

Kondakarla Lake, 10km from Anakapalle, which is 40 km from Vizag is a large freshwater lake and is best seen in Nov-Mar season. You can spot many migratory birds from far-off places like Siberia here in this season. The biggest fresh water lake in the state is located here. The still waters of the lake bounded by coconut trees on one side and green hills all around displays a great picturesque site. The beach is known for its bird flora, the Bird Sanctuary established here has a rich diversity of bird species.

Gangavaram Beach

Location

Gangavaram is another beach area close to Visakhapatnam with a rock like structure that looks like a small island.

Simply spectacular, is the one word to describe the scenic Gangavaram beach located on the south of Vizag near Visakhapatnam steel plant and the beach. It is beautifully lined up with palm trees. This beach attracts many film and TV serial makers as it provides natural picturesque spots.

With a picturesque coastline the steady growth of tourists is seen here. This beach with soft sands and cool breeze always provides a secluded atmosphere.

Bheemli Beach (Bheemunipatnam Beach)

Location

Bheemili or Bheemunipatnam is a serene town north of Visakhapatnam on the east coast. The ride from Vizag to Bheemili is breathtaking, with the coast on one side and lovely eastern ghats on the other side.

The calm and serene Bheemunipatnam Beach is located at the confluence of Gosthani River and the Bay of Bengal. Bheemunipatnam is featured by the ruins of a 17th century fort and cemetery, and history reveals that this was a Dutch settlement earlier period.

The beach, known also as 'Bheemli', is renowned as the safest and calmest location for swimmers.

Kailasagiri

Location

Kailasagiri is located on a hilltop, rising 304 meters above sea level. It provides an excellent overall view of the city and sea front below. Kailasagiri has a ropeway, which is a people mover similar to that of a ski life A ride up and down the ropeway is for a fee of Rs44/- per person and give a panoramic view especially in the evening when the city lights come on against the black darkness.

There is also a huge sculpture of Shiva and Parvati here. The Shanku Chakra Nama that symbolizes image of Lord Vishnu with its pristine form which is fully lighted at night and can be seen from all parts of the city.
