The imposing Minar of Bir Tikendrajit park standing tall in the eastern tall in the eastern side of the Imphal Pologround of the state’s capital commemorates the indomitable spirit of Manipur martyrs who sacrificed their lives while fighting against the Britist in 1891. The eye-catching Minar also serves as an ideal background for photo shoots.
Shaheed Minar is a symbol of sacrifice located in the capital city of Imphal. It is also known as Martyr's Memorial. It was erected in the memory of the courageous and brave Meetie and the tribal warriors who happily sacrificed their lives and families to save their land from the British in 1891. They fought against the British army till their last breath. It is situated in the Bir Tikendrajit Park and can be easily reached. Not only the men but the Manipuri women also showed a great deal of courage while fighting against the British on 12th December 1939. The Nupee-lal (Women's war) Memorial near the Imphal Head Post Office was built in the honour of these women who sacrificed their lives for fighting for injustice.
