Kamesware Temple

Location

The Kamesware Temple is an ancient temple, built in the 18th century by the Ahom king Pramatta Singha. It originally served as the centre of Madana Kam and was later converted into a shrine of Lord Shiva.

As the name suggests, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a Shivalinga that resembles the one in Kedar Shiva.

Powa Mecca

Location

Powa Mecca, located near the Madhava Temple, is an important pilgrimage centre of the Muslim community. The word ‘Powa’ means 1/4th and hence, Powa Mecca figuratively refers to having some of the sanctity of Mecca. It is popular for the tomb of Pir Giasuddin Auliya, a pioneer of Islam.

It was constructed by Mir Lutufullah-i-Shiraji in 1657, during the rule of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. It is believed that the foundation of this mosque was laid using the soil brought from Mecca.

Silghat

Location

Silghat is a famous river port located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. A hillock named Samantagiri can be visited in Silghat for viewing the adjoining hill ranges and tribal villages. The town has a famous temple complex, comprising numerous ancient temples, along with the Hatimura Temple. The Hatimura Temple is believed to have been constructed over a ruined stone temple of the early 18th century.
