Yumthang Valley

State

Yumthang Valley is a grazing pasture and is bounded by the Himalaya Mountains. Lachung is the nearest place to the valley, which provides base to stay and explore the valley. The valley is in close proximity to the Chinese border, due to which it was closed to the visitors earlier, but opened for visitors now.

Yumthang Valley is known for its Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary.

Accessibility

By Air: The nearest airport to the valley is Bagdogra in West Bengal, 124 kilometres from the valley and connected to the three major cities of Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati. The airport is connected to Gangtok by helicopter services.

By Rail: Rail service is also available from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri.

By Road: Gangtok is nearly 15 kilometres from this place by road.
