Talcher

State

Talcher, known for its coal reserves, is one of the fast growing industrial areas of Orissa. The establishment of Talcher Thermal Power Station, the largest coal-based Fertiliser plant, Heavy Water Plant and the Talcher Collieries have greatly enhanced the importance of the place. Dera colliery is the oldest mine here. The coalfields are managed by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL).

20-km from Angul and 65-km from Dhenkanal , it is connected with N.H. 42 by N.H. 23 at Banarpal. Regular bus services are also available from here.
