Koloriang

Located at an altitude of 1,040 metres above sea level, Koloriang, a small town, is situated in the Subansiri District of the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Situated on the banks of River Kurung, this beautiful town is also an old administrative centre. At present, the destination sprawls over a land area of 5,39,672.50 square metres.

This town has derived its name from two words, Kolo meaning the name of the person who is believed to be the owner of the area and Riang meaning land. In addition, it also serves as the capital of the district of Kurung Kumey.

Known for its natural beauty, the town is one of the ideal locations for those interested in nature walks as well as trekking. On the way to Koloriang from Ziro, there are numerous picnic spots. Besides, tourists visiting the town can head towards nearby villages such as Sangra, Palin, Deed and Talo.

Flights, trains and buses all are available to the destination. The nearest airport serving the destination is Tezpur Airport, which is located in Assam. Tourists travelling from international destinations can board flights to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, which has connecting flights to Lilabari Airport in Assam, located close to Koloriang.

Trains are also available, which are served by Tinsukia Railway Station located in Assam. This train station is connected with Guwahati and hence, tourists travelling from major cities of India such as Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata can board trains to this station. In addition, buses are also available for travellers, which can be boarded from other parts of Arunachal Pradesh and the country.

Summer is the best time to visit this beautiful town, which commences from the month of March and extends till the end of May. The temperature during this season ranges between 20° Celsius and 30° Celsius.
