Orissa being a land of ancient and sacred temples, and a state where three religions flourished, is thronged by pilgrims throughout the year. There are a large number of fairs and festivals celebrated. There are festivals relating to each religion, tribal festivals, festivals relating to Lord Jagannath, the presiding deity of the Puri Temple, and many seasonal exhibitions and fairs as well as special festivals such as the Konark Festival, the Rajarani Music Festival, the Puri Beach Festival etc..

Orissa Fairs

Orissa is a land of wonderful people, who are very lively and full of life. It is also a land of fairs and festivals, most of which are religious in nature. These fairs see enthusiastic participation of almost all the people of the state. One of the most important fair of Orissa is the Jagannath Rath Yatra, which is organized in the holy city of Puri. Devotees from all over India throng the city in June-July, to take part in this holy fair. Apart from that, a number of other major fairs are also organized in the state.
