Sri Govindarajaswami Temple

Location

One of the important and biggest shrines in Tirupati, Givindarajaswami temple boasts of the vaishnavite traditions of temple architecture. Earlier records of this temple dates back to the year 1235 AD and it is believed that Ramanuja laid its foundation stone. After the imposing Gopuram, there are two shrines with an outer wall encircling the two. Out of the two the southern most shrine is dedicated to Parthasarathy and the other one in the north is in the name of Govindaraja.

Apart from the two shrines the premises house numerous sub temples like Sri Andal Temple, Sri Mudal Alwar Temple, Sri Kalyana Venkateswaraswami Temple, Sri Ramanuja Temple, Sri Kurath Alwar Temple, Sri Salai Nachiyar Ammavari Temple, Sri Vyasaraya Anjaneyaswami Temple, Sri Manavala Mahamuni Temple, Sri Madhurakavi Alwar Temple, Sri Tirumangai Alwar Temple, Sri Vedantha Desikar Temple and Sri Chakrathalwar Temple.
