Shantinath Temple

Location

A famous Jain temple of Digambar sect, Shanthinath Temple belongs to the Eastern group of temples. Though this shrine resembles the other ancient temples in Khajuraho, it is somewhat a newly built temple. Dedicated to the Jain saint Adinath, this marvelous shrine has acquired the status of an important pilgrim center of the Jains in India which attracts Jain pilgrims all around the year.

The main deity is measured about four and a half meter and it is in a standing pose. It is believed that the statue is sculpted in the year 1028 AD. Adjacent to the temple, there is a dharmasala, which provides good lodging.
