Radha Damodar Temple

Location

One among the important and popular temples of Vrindavan, Radha Damodar temple boasts of a rich legacy. This divine abode of Radha and Krishna was founded by Jiva Goswami. It is heard that the original deities of Radha and damodar were hand carved by Rupa Gosvami, a staunch disciple of Lord Krishna. He then gave the idols to his beloved follower, Jiva Gosvami, who later constructed a temple here. Now what we see in the sanctum is the replica of the original idols and hence it is called as the pratibhu-murti.

Apart from the main idols of Radha-Damodara other deities like, the Radha-Madhava deities of Jayadeva Goswami, Radha-Vrindavana deities of Krishna Dasa Kaviraja Goswami and the Radha-Chalacikana deities of Bhugarbha Goswami are also placed in the temple premises. The temple also houses the sacred Govardhana sila in its holy sanctum.
