Parsvanath Temple

Location

Dedicated to one of the Jain theerthankaras, Parsvanath temple falls under the eastern group of temples of Khajuraho. Considered as the largest of the Jain temples, Parsvanath Temple lies in the protected zone. The sanctum of this medium sized shrine is adorned by the idol of Parsvanath.

One of the characteristic features of this shrine is that the sculptures of this fabulous shrine are non-erotic. The temple houses sculptures of gorgeous Surasundaries in various attractive postures, and the statue of one applying make-up and another removing a thorn from her feet on the southern façade and yet another tying on ankle-bells on the northern façade makes eye catching spectacle.
