Pandu

Location

The city of Guwahati has the unique distinction of being associated with both the epics of Hinduism - the Ramayana through Sage Vasishtha and the Mahabharata through Pandu. The Subarban town of Pandu is named after King Pandu (father of the famous five Pandavas). The Tila Hills in the town has temple dedicated to Pandu (the Pandunath temple).

It is believed that the Pandavas, during their exile phase lived here under the guise of Ganesha. Five Ganesha idols representing the five Pandava brothers are found here. The place also presents various other idols of which the incarnation of Lord Narsimha (Half man and Half Lion) is very touching.
