Nageshwarnath Mandir

A legendary temple that boasts of a divine love story of a Nag Kanya, the temple of Nageshwarnath is the only shrine that has been able to strive the beatings of time. It is believed that the temple was erected by Kush, son of Ram.

Legend has it that Kush had lost his amulet while taking his bath in the Sarayu River and after a hectic search for the same he was not able to find it out. When he had lost all his hope of finding his amulet, a serpent girl who was in love with him gave it to him. Impressed by her behaviour, a Shiva temple was constructed by the king for the serpent girl since she was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. During Shivaratri festival the temple witnesses an extremely teeming devotees who gather their to show their devotion towards lord Shiva.
