Mughal Gardens, as the name suggests, built in the Mughal period is a marvel located in Srinagar. These gardens are the major attractions of the tourists to Jammu and Kashmir. These gardens are the nice example of the Mughal style of constructing attractive places.

The name Mughal Gardens is given for the combination of three renowned gardens namely the Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Gardens and Chashmashahi. These gardens are tourists’ paradise and are beautifully decorated with bright flowerbeds, terraced lawns and well maintained cascading fountains. No tourist can miss these three nice marvelous gardens.

Chashma Shahi: At Chashmashahi, is a tastefully laid garden in terraces, which commands a magnificent view of the Dal Lake below and surrounding mountain ranges. The cool water of the spring is highly refreshing and digestive. The original garden was laid out by Shah Jehan in 1632 AD. TRC Srinagar free of cost to visit the permits can be had from the information Counter Chashma Shahi Garden. Permits can be had from the information counter.

Nishat Bagh: Situated on the banks of the Dal Lake, with the Zabarwan Mountains as its backdrop, (11 km. from TRC), this 'garden of bliss' commands a magnificent view of the lake and the snow capped Pir Panjal mountain range which stands far away to the west of the valley. Nishat was designed in 1633 AD by Asaf Khan, brother of Nur Jehan.

Nishat Bagh, the marvelous gardens designed by Asaf Khan, Nur Jahan's brother, was set up in 1633 and are among the largest of the Mughal Gardens. The garden with rare species of flowered plants and nature’s beautiful artifacts is really amazing.

This garden is placed on the banks of the beautiful Dal Lake in the backdrop of amazing the Zabarwan hills, with many numbers of terraces, flower beds, fountains and enchanting impressive lawns. Magnificent view of the Dal Lake is the greatest attraction of this garden.

Shalimar Bagh: - Built by Emperor Jehangir for his wife Nur Jehan, Shalimar, 15 kms from the TRC, is a beautiful garden with sweeping vistas over gardens and lakes, and shallow terraces. The garden is 539 m by 182 m and has four terraces, rising one above the other. A canal lined with polished stones and supplied with water from Harwan runs through the middle of the garden. The fourth terrace, by far the best, was once reserved for royal ladies.

Welcome to the most beautiful Garden in Srinagar, renowned as the monument of love. The Shalimar Garden, constructed by great Emperor Jahangir in 1616 for his beloved beautiful wife Nurjahan, “Light of the world‿, has four terraces and draws water through a canal from Harwan with imposing fountains. The highest terrace called as “Abode of Love‿ was reserved for the king and the royal ladies.

The garden is illuminated by colorful electric lights which add to the charm of the place. There is a big tank around which nearly 150 fountains amaze the tourist with their display. Don’t miss this garden while visiting Srinagar. Many newly wedded couples visit this garden and spent their spare time in memory of the abode of love.
