Location
Magam is located in the Budgam District at an elevation of about 1,569 m. Located 18 km away from Gulmarg, this famous town has about 60% Shia Muslim population. Situated on Srinagar Gulmarg Road, the town has the largest market place of Budgam District.
In the town is present the Idara Abul Fazal Abbas Islamic Library, which was established in 1985. With its collection of Islamic books, literature, CD and audio cassettes, it has become the largest Islamic and private library in the whole of Jammu and Kashmir State. Various sacrosanct Islamic events are organised by this library. Apart from this, this library also helps the orphan and poor people by donations.
