Jarwa Reserve

Government of India reserved some of the regions of Andaman Islands for the tribes Jarwa in Andaman. This Jarwa reserve is part of the dense forests in two islands of Andaman. Jarwa, the first inhabitants of the Islands, is one of the four aborigines of Andaman Islands. The population of Jarwa has dwindled to around 200 and the government is taking special care in promote the causes of Jarwa tribes.

Jarwa tribal reserve is dynamic with the festivities of tribes including the traditional songs and dances, rituals, indigenous medicinal practices, unique social order and other ceremonies. This reserve is enriched with rare species of flora and fauna as well.
