The Guptar Ghat is the place where Lord Rama is said to have left his body. There is temple and small palace built by King Dasrath Singh in early 19th century. Being at the banks of the river Sharayu provides an opportunity for the populace to perform their religious rituals at the very shores of these sacred water streams. The Guptar Ghat has been constructed to provide one such place for the worshipers to take a holy dip as well as perform the prayers as wished. The Ghat has steps that lead to the river bed and the steps immersed in water have been deliberately widened to afford a wide area for the pilgrims.

The Ghat also houses the famous Chakra Harji Vishnu temple and the Raja Mandir. Lord Ram is believed to have entered the temple and vanished or disappeared (Gupt) hence the name to the Ghat.
