Gommatesvara Statue: Gommatesvara Statue is the prime attraction in Sravanabelagola. This wonderful statue with 17 m (58 ft) height is the world’s highest monolithic statue. It is a specimen of architecture and craft. There are many inscriptions on the base of this statue. The statue was built by the Ganga king and his general Chamundaraya.

Mahamastakabhisheka, attracting thousands from all over the world, is an important Jain festival celebrated once in twelve years at the holy city of Sravanabelagola. Mahamastakabhisheka is the ceremonial smearing (bathing) of the world’s highest monolithic statue of Gommateshwara. During this festival the statue was bathed with various items including milk, saffron, gold coins, ghee and curd.
