Location

Established in the year 1906, Forest Research Institute in Dehradun, is focusing on research and other activities connected with forests. Apart from its educational significance, this institution houses an exceptional structural beauty. The Forest Research Institute is stretch over a vast expansion of 4.5 square kilometer of lustrous greenery and it shows an imposing structure with Colonial and Greco-Roman styles of architecture.

A deemed University, this celebrated institution houses Six museums which are accessible to the general public. The institution also holds the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy and the head office of the Indian Council of Forestry Research.

The New Forest, the campus of the institute is a hub of vast varieties of fauna of the entire Himalayan region. Besides that, this is a good trekking area also. The woody forest proffers a natural dwelling for the Himalayan, as well as the migratory birds.

The institute works from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm and 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm.
