Chumukedima

Location

It is situated at a distance of about 14 Km from Dimapur on NH 39. Chumukedima served as the first headquarters of the then Naga Hills District of Assam State during the time of British rule in early period of the 19th centure. The Department of Tourism is constructing a Tourist Village on top of a hill. From this spot one can capture a view of the whole of Dimapur and other parts of Karbi-Anlong of Assam. The Tourist Village is at a distance of 8 Km from the National Highway. One can also come across few waterfalls located in this area which are under exploration and assessment for easy access.

Holding great historic importance, Chumukedima was once the first headquarters of the then Naga Hills District of Assam state during the British Raj. It is located only 14 km from Dimapur. The Department of Tourism has created a Tourist Village atop a hill in Chumukedima. This village offers a bird's eye view of Dimapur.
