Location
The exquisitely landscaped Botanical garden instituted 1982 is situated within the Assam State Zoo. The Garden is spread over an area of 85 hectares and hosts diverse species of herbs, palms, shrubs and conifers. The Orchid house of the Botanical Garden boasts of a collection of more than 40 varieties of rare orchids gathered from the entire North East region of the country. The Orchids represent diverse conditions required by them to sustain their presence.
Special efforts have been made to gather information regarding these Orchids and the same is displayed and also available for the enthusiasts. The Botanical Garden is open for public viewing on all working days except Fridays.
