Baba Budan Giri Range

Location

The Baba Budan range of hills also called as Chandra Drona Parvatha which is its ancient name lies north of Chikmagalur town. The range takes its name from the Baba Budan giri which is a peak1895 meters high and 28 kms from the town and is named after the Muslim saint Baba Budan who brought the first coffee seeds to India.
The range has one of the highest mountain peaks between the Himallayas in the north of India and the Nilgiris in the south of India.
The range of hills also has the Inam Dattatreya Peetha, which is a laterite cave and a worship place for both Muslims and Hindus. Close to the pilgrimage centre is the Mannikyadhara falls where one can take a shower in the falls.
