Arki Palace

A dazzling citadel on the backdrop of a wood side hill, Arki palace is quite famous for its lovely frescos of the Arki Kalam style. This gargantuan structure displays splendid architectural works that encompasses intricately designed roofs and motifs depicts various themes of contemporary importance. Though in ruins the murals and the wall paintings are worthy for a visit, which depicts various subjects from puranas to folklores. Kalidasa’s Kumarasambhava is brilliantly painted on the walls of the palace is so dazzling that it arrests ones attention.

An 18th century citadel that is built by Raja Prithvi Singh, Arki palace is simply a relic of its past glory. Part of this palace has been turned to a heritage hotel where one can witness the kingly elegance and royal grandeur in its full bloom. From here one can see the spectacular view of the snowy mountains and other higher altitudes of the Himalayas. During nights the palace unwinds the awesome views of the entire town. At a glance, the palace looks like a posh hotel where there is nothing to showcase the artistic grandeur of the yesteryears.

It would be unbelievable to chew that this flamboyant citadel was once upon a time a hub of artistic talents. Its pretty location in the side of a wood side hill is the only thing that remains unaffected.
