Anasuya- Atri Ashram

This Ashram is situated about 15 Km. to the south of Ramghat in a dense forest area. It is dedicated to Maharishi and his wife Anusuya . It was here that Atri muni, his wife Anusuya and their three sons (who were the three incarnations of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh), lived and are said to have meditated

About 4 kms away from Sphatikshila is the hermitage of sage Atri and Anasuya, surrounded by dense jungles. The peace and tranquility is occasionally disturbed by the sound of wild animals. The ashram houses the statues of Anasuya, Atri, Dattatreya and Durvasa Muni.

Sati Anusuya Temple is located in the serene environ of a thick forest, Sati Anasuya Ashram boast of the tale of a loyal wife whose credentials can be seen narrated in the Ramayana. There are numerous legends about Anasuya the loyal wife of Sri Maharshi whose loyalty and obedience towards her husband gave her enormous power. It is believed that she was able to foresee the vicious plan put against her by the wives of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. Mythology says that the trimurtis were born to this exemplary woman owing to her purity and righteousness. It is also believed that her prayers brought the river Mandakini down to earth.

The Sati Anusuya Ashram proffers a serene environ where the sweet twittering of the jungle birds and the melodious flow of the streams that join the Mandakini River greets the visitor. One can feel the freshness of lustrous greenery along with the peaceful ambiance of a holy premise. It is definite that one would love the tranquility prevails in the entire surroundings and it is a perfect place for those who want a retreat from the day today hustles. Ashram also holds a temple where the idols of Atri and Ansuya are the chief deities.
