Anandpur Sahib

Location

Anandpur Sahib is one of the five most important pilgrimages for Sikhs. Abode of joy, tThe pilgrim centre is situated along with Naina Devi hills in it’s backdrop. The worship place It is believed to be the place of baptism of Sikh community known as Khalsa - the pure ones.

Guru Tegh Bahadur raised a new habitation in 1665 at Makhowal. The shrine celebrates Hola Mohalla with great pomp and show for saluting the martial spirit of Sikh community.Homage is paid during a three day festival. Apart from devotees, tourists throng the destination from various parts of the country to pay homage at the shrine during a three day festival.

Procession of Nihangs with weapons through town's market to the Gurudwara is a major highlight of the festival. Besides, tourists can also witness martial games such as tent pegging and sword wielding can be witnessed during the festival.

Travellers can reach the destination by boarding train from Ambala to Anandpur Sahib (Punjab) on Sirhind-Nangal Dam railway line, awhich takes travel time of 3 hours journey.
