Aligarh Fort

Location

Aligarh Fort: The old fort dates as far back as 1194. During the collapse of the Mughal Empire, the region was faught for by the Afgans, Jats, Marathas and the Rohillas. Renamed Aligarh, meaning 'high fort' in 1776, it fell to the British in 1803 despite French support to its ruler, Scindia.
