Agasti Rishi Ashram

Location

Legend has it that Lord Ram and his brother Laxman visited Shri Agasti Rishi to seek his blessings and help in rescuing Sita from Ravana. This old dwelling is mentioned in the epic of Ramayana. Several people visit the ashram every year. Efforts are on to maintain the ashram in good condition.

The Agasti Rishi Ashram is placed on the banks of the Pravara river. The legendary dwelling has a place in the scripts of Ramayan. Agasti Rishi gave Rama a miraculous arrow when Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita visited the Rishi. The arrow was used by Rama to kill Ravana to rescue Sita from the devil.

The peaceful hermitage of Bhandardara draws a lot of tourists. It is often a accommodating place for many tourists. The hermitage is preferred because of its beauty and quiet atmosphere.

The cave used by Ram and Lakshman when they stayed in Panchwati is also seen near the ashram.
