The Nongpoh market was once famous for its venision, parrots and mynas pet stalls, but for them to be available today one needs a fair share of luck also, you can buy orchids at unbelievably low prices, if you are lucky.

Bellikkal

Bellikkal is a small village located in the Nilgiris of the Western Ghats of Tamilnadu. The tiny hamlet of Bellikkal is still fairly unknown and has therefore maintained its natural charm and peace. The Mudumalai forest, the Bandipur forest, and the Moyar River can all be enjoyed from this hill village. Sirohi

State

Sirohi is the only hill station of the state, broken up by the hills and rocky ranges.

History

Sirohi was founded by the Deoras. The founder of the Deoras dynasty was Deoraj. Rao Sobhaji, the 6th descendent of Rao Deoraj, founded the town of Shivpuri in 1405. Latter in the year 1425, his son Sehastramal founded a fortress, which became the capital and turned into present day town of Sirohi.

During the 19th century, many wars were fought between the hill tribes of the area. In 1817, the protection of the British was sought and finally in1823 a treaty was concluded with the British government. Sirohi became a part of Rajputana Agency and a self-governing princely state within the British India.

Air: The nearest airport to Sirohi is at Udaipur. It is only 110 kms from Sirohi. The private buses and taxis ensure best service from Sirohi to the airport.

Rail: There are nine railway stations in Sirohi district. The Western Railways of India connects the place.

Shri Ganganagar

State

Shri Ganganagar, also known as "the food basket of Rajasthan", is a northern most city of State, surrounded by Haryana in the northeastern side, Bikaner in the south, Hanumangarh in the east and Pakistan in the northwest and west. It is said to be influenced by the town planning of Paris. Before independence it was a part of Bikaner and is on the border of India and Pakistan. It is one of the biggest military bases and was named after Maharaja Ganga Singh, the Maharaja of Bikaner.

History

Named after Maharaja of Bikaner. Sri Ganganagar District was part of Bikaner State. This was mostly uninhabited region. History of this district is testimony of Vision and Efforts of Maharaja Sri Ganga Singh Ji who visualised and build Gang Canal after the great famine of 1899-1900. Waters of Satluj river were brought into the region through 89 Miles Long Gang Canal in 1927 and turned this region into the bread basket[1] of Rajsthan. This is one of the most prosperous District not only of Rajathan but also India.

Maharaja Ganga Singh Dental College was established named after the great king.

Air: A good network of roads and railways connects Ganganagar District to the rest of India. Nearest airpots are Jaipur, Delhi and Chandigarh.

Rail: There are trains from Kandla (Gujarat) as well from Pathankot (Punjab) to this place.

Road: NH-15 is running from Sriganganagar to Sanchore, which is well linked with all the major areas of Sri Ganganagar.
